Project Synopsis: Solar orientation, prevailing winds, water collection and storage, thermal massing, and a strong connection to nature are the central themes of the Woodglen Solar Subdivision model house. These ideas are articulated through the emulation of indigenous southern archetypes, by learning strategies implemented prior to the advent of electricity. We attempted to emphasize the systems of the house, using them to create dynamic poignant moments where functions are highlighted for their beauty as well as their utility. This house blends old southern sensibilities with new materials and technology to create spaces that embrace nature esthetically and mechanically.

Congratulations Patty and Jonathan! See the EGB page for further details.
