Meet the Atlanta Chapter
The Atlanta Regional Green Building Council is a partnership between the Southface Energy Institute and the U.S. Green Building Council. The Atlanta Regional Council was formed in November 2001 to advance and promote sustainable and environmentally responsible planning, design, construction and operation of the region’s buildings, landscapes, cities and communities. We are a supporter of GreenDesign and hosts of the GreenBuild Expo 2005.
We facilitate greenbuilding for users, agencies, and companies and foster cooperation and collaboration among organizations dedicated to environmental responsibility and sustainability.
GreenDesign significantly reduces or eliminates the negative impact of buildings on the environment and on the building occupants. Green building design and construction practices promote sustainable site planning, safeguarding water and water efficiency, energy efficiency, conservation of materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.
We were also proud to host the world in Atlanta on November 9-11, 2005 for the fourth Greenbuild International Conference and Expo. Our Host Committee worked diligently to welcome the international green building industry with our trademark southern hospitality. We will continue to offer the best green building educational programs through our workshops, presentations and Greenprints Conference.
