ABOUT BRGBC

The Baltimore Regional Green Building Council (BRGBC) is a chapter of the U. S. Green Building Council, (USGBC), a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices. Our membership is composed or organizations and individuals from across the building industry that are working to advance structures that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. Members includes building owners and end-users, real estate developers, facility managers, architects, designers, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, product and building system manufacturers, government agencies, and nonprofits.  We are a 501©(3) non-profit organization.

We are dedicated to sustainable design and construction in Maryland including Baltimore City and the following counties: Carroll, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard, and Harford.  Our members are the primary point of contact for users, agencies, companies and individuals interested in green building, fostering cooperation and collaboration amongst organizations dedicated to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

Our guiding principles help us  with the decisions we make every day about USGBC and its programs. In an industry predicated on innovation, the principles provide us with clarity and continuity, while also giving us the flexibility to grow and respond to a rapidly changing market.

WHO IS USGBC?

The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders committed to expanding sustainable building practices. USGBC is composed of more than 12,000 organizations and serves as a single entity for the building industry providing integration, leadership and education.  The annual U.S. market in green building products and services was more than $7 billion in 2005 and is now nearing $12 billion in 2007. 

Since its formation in 1993, the U.S. Green Building Council has fulfilled this need, becoming the center for debate and action on issues facing the industry’s multiple interests.  Learn more…
