As President of Noisette Company, John’s latest project is leading the master planning and revitalization of 3,000 acres of the City of North Charleston's historic urban core.  Within the Noisette area is 340-acres, a portion of the former Charleston Naval Base which today is called The Navy Yard at Noisette. Noisette has been recognized as one of the largest sustainable urban redevelopment's in the United States.
Guided by a meticulous and ambitious community based master plan, John L. Knott, Jr. has a vision to turn the Noisette area into a model for the New American City.  This redevelopment effort is a community partnership guided by sustainable principles to develop an environmentally conscious, socially just city for all in the 21st century.
Accustomed to undertaking projects that maintain a balance with a region’s ecosystem, hehas played a major role in molding the nation’s sustainable development movement. In 2001, he was honored with the Award for Excellence by ULI for Dewees Island, a 1,206-acre development, widely recognized as a model of sustainable development.
