  MISSION STATEMENT

The committee's mission is to market, educate and provide customer support for residential green building and build effective partnerships within the residential green building community.  

  ANNOUNCEMENTS

Future meetings will most likely be the third Tuesday of the month and will cover the following topics:

  • January: Leed for Homes
  • February: Chicago Green Homes Program
  • March: NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) Green Home Building Program
  • April: Energy Star
  • May: Insulation Methods

  OBJECTIVES
 This committee has specific objectives:
  1. Identifying and prioritizing the issues relevant to the transformation of the market place.
  2. Providing support to the Residential Green Building Advocate(s).
  3. Developing a working understanding of the residential green building programs in the market place. (This includes the City of Chicago Program, LEED for Homes, and the NAHB program)
  4. Working in conjunction with the Chapter's State & Local Government committee and the National USGBC Chapter coordinator to keep track of residential green building initiatives by identifying and prioritizing legislative opportunities.
TASKS

Some of the responsibilities include:

  1. Development or advisement of educational programs which will educate the home building community about residential green building programs in their areas - this includes the City of Chicago Program, LEED for Homes, and the NAHB program.
  2. Development of an advocacy/speakers bureau that provides experts to speak to the press, municipalities, or the home building community in general on behalf of residential green building.  This same panel will also be available to answer questions generated by the public.
  3. Development and implementation of a marketing plan for residential green building.
  4. Development of a services bureau of home building service providers that are educated in residential green building that interested home builders, home buyers, or renovators can utilize as a resource.  Besides builders, designers, architects, and developers, this list could also include brokers, finance specialists, insurance agents, pest control companies, appraisers, etc.
