1. Identify and reach out to individuals and agencies within state and local governments, such as mayors and their advisors, building officials, local aldermen, public school agencies, etc. in an effort to understand their priorities, concerns, and desire or need for information about building green.
2. Provide educational materials, presentations, and resources to these individuals and agencies, initially in the form of information packets and informal PowerPoint presentations to introduce the USGBC and the LEED Rating System to them, and then to provide them with the tools to develop or adopt green building programs in their area.
3. Identify barriers to building green within local or state public policy, codes, and ordinances and encourage their authors and administrators to consider refining regulations that may hinder the success of green building programs in their area.
4. Track legislation that affects green building locally and statewide and make this information available to our membership. |
