Ted is a Project Manager with the Planning and Construction Division of Miami University. In 2004, Ted joined the Board of Directors of the USGBC Cincinnati Regional Chapter when he founded the High-Performance Sustainable Schools committee in order to promote and develop sustainability within the region's schools. Most recently, the committee has broadened its mission to Government Advocacy in order to reach out to regional governmental leaders. Ted is a LEED Accredited Professional with the USGBC and has experience working on LEED registered building projects. In 2006, Ted authored a detailed report analyzing the environmental and economic potential for making the proposed $600 million dollar “Banks Riverfront Redevelopment” in Cincinnati one of the nation's largest green projects. He has also spoken to numerous regional municipalities, professional and civic groups regarding the environmental and economic benefits of sustainable building design.
Holly Christmann
Holly is Manager of the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District. She is responsible for overall management of the Solid Waste District, including strategic planning, program review, and ensuring Hamilton County is in compliance with State solid waste management and recycling goals. She is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelors of Science in Public Affairs, concentrated in Environmental Science. She has been a board member of the USGBC Cincinnati Regional Chapter since its inception. She is Chair of the Public Relations Committee.
Shawn is in the Architectural Department at Bayer Becker where he also serves as Sustainability Director, responsible for coordination of Bayer Becker’s Sustainable Design Committee, internal education and increasing the number of projects employing sustainable design strategies. He is currently Vice Chair of the Cincinnati Regional Chapter of USGBC and helps coordinate the Emerging Green Builders Committee (EGB). Shawn is a 2004 graduate of The University of Cincinnati with a Master of Architecture degree, and is a LEED Accredited Professional with the USGBC. He also regularly participates as a guest critic at the University of Cincinnati for sustainable design studios.
Tom Kennedy, PE
Tom is an independent engineering consultant in Cincinnati. He is one of the original members of the Board of Directors who attained chapter status for the Cincinnati area in 2003. His USGBC activities include making presentations and speaking before other local organizations, leading chapter planning events, both participating and attending chapter events, and serving as the chapter’s web page author.
Tom has experience on LEED registered building projects, in both the design and commissioning roles. Tom is a 1983 graduate of The University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is a LEED accredited professional with the US Green building Council.
Douglas W. Miller
Doug is Area Vice President with KMC Control. He has been actively involved in sustainable design & construction for a number of years prior to moving to the Cincinnati area in the fall of 2005. He was one of the “founding fathers” of the Detroit Michigan Chapter and went on to serve two consecutive terms on the Board of Directors there, including serving as the Detroit Chapter’s Events Committee Chair.
Doug is also involved with USGBC National. He is currently on nine corresponding committees and has served twice on the Steering Committee for the Chapter Forum. Doug has experience on both LEED NC and LEED EB projects.
Doug is a LEED Accredited Professional with the USGBC. He holds a BSME from Wayne State University and has a NICET Level II Certification in fire & life safety systems.
Virginia L. Russell, FASLA, RLA
Virginia is an Associate Professor of Architecture at The University of Cincinnati School of Architecture and Interior Design. She frequently lectures on sustainable landscape construction, storm water best practices, low-impact development and “green” roofs for civic groups and professional organizations. She is a LEED Accredited Professional with the USGBC. Virginia is an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and served as National Vice President of Membership (1996-1998). She is also an active member of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) and serves as an instructor for GRHC. She is a member of the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission, Planning Partnership LAND-HC Subcommittee on Green Building.
Joe Schutte
Joe is an Application Engineer and Account Executive for Johnson Controls in West Chester. Joe is the only remaining founding member of Southwest Ohio Regional Organizing Group in 2001, which later became the USGBC Cincinnati Regional Chapter. Since then, Joe has served on the Board of Directors as Board Secretary and Director of Finance. Joe is a 1999 graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
John Telintelo, AIA
John is a Senior Project Architect at Burgess & Niple in Cincinnati. Since 2003, he has served as Chair of the Events committee, which serves as an educational resource on sustainable design for our members and our community. He is one of the original Board of Directors from the Chapter’s inception.
John is a LEED Accredited Professional with the USGBC. He has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Alan J. Warner, AIA
Alan Warner is the Principal-in-Charge of Sustainability for GBBN Architects, a 115 person firm with offices in Cincinnati, Lexington, KY and in Beijing, China. He is currently serving as one of two active Representatives for the State of Ohio to the USGBC Heartland Regional Council. He is one of the original Board of Directors from the Chapter’s inception. Alan is a LEED Accredited Professional with the USGBC. Alan has served as the 2004 AIA Cincinnati President, the 1997/98 AIA Cincinnati COTE Chair and as a member of the Hamilton County Green Building Committee. Alan is the founder, and now Chair, of the AIA Ohio Committee on the Environment (COTE). Last year, he was an architectural representatives on the first ever US Department of Commerce/USGBC Trade Mission to China. Alan also speaks publicly for trade organizations on sustainability and high-performance approaches to building.
Michael Zaretsky, Architect, LEED AP
Michael came to Cincinnati in 2006 to join the University of Cincinnati as an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Department of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP). He came to Cincinnati from the Savannah College of Art and Design where he taught architecture and sustainable design. Michael has a long history in sustainable architecture; as a design/builder, as a practicing architect and as an educator. He has been an active member of the USGBC since 2000, and was a member of the Eco-building Guild in Seattle, Washington in the early 1990’s. He presently is working as a sustainable design consultant in addition to his role as a professor of architecture.
Michael has experience on several LEED-registered buildings, including acting as sustainability and LEED coordinator for the University of California at Merced Science and Engineering Building (The UC Merced campus is the first LEED rated campus in the country).
