Welcome to our monthly Newsletter! USGBC Flatwater Chapter selects a
LEED for Homes Advocate The USGBC Flatwater Chapter is
pleased to announce the selection of Daniel Lawse as our chapter’s Daniel J. Lawse,
Energy Outreach Associate for the Neighborhood Center for Greater Omaha, is
responsible for a two-year grant funded pilot program to inventory housing
stock in two Omaha neighborhoods, develop a Neighborhood Energy Action Plan,
see the plan through implementation, and follow-up on the effectiveness of
the energy reducing action strategies. As a nationally certified Home
Energy Rater (HERS), he conducts home energy assessments for research, energy
reduction, and improved indoor air quality. As part of a holistic approach to
energy efficiency, the Neighborhood Energy Savings Program has partnered with
the Douglas County Health Department to bring awareness to radon hazards and
has partnered with the Omaha Healthy Kids’ Alliance to educate homeowners
about lead hazards in homes. Daniel has served as the Planning
Director for Glenwood, Working towards a Master’s degree
in Community and Regional Planning, Daniel has studied sustainable
development and energy planning at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, as
well as attending various workshops and seminars on residential green
building—both new and rehab. Daniel role will include
networking with 2007 USGBC Flatwater
