Wednesday, November 18, 2009: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM | FLORIDA CAMPUS COMPACT PRESENTS:
"Building Sustainable Communities"
Location: FAMU School of Architecture, 1937 South MLK Blvd., Tallahassee
The Florida A&M University School of Architecture (SOA) will host a FL|CC Day Institute that will advance engaged scholarship. Faculty, administrators, students, and community and business leaders will come together to explore cross-disciplinary service-learning practices, opportunities, and partnerships. Participants will discuss the social, economic, and environmental concerns of sustainability and the role of faculty, community partners, and students in developing service conscious academic programs and community partnerships. The FL|CC Day Institute will identify opportunities to expand cross disciplinary scholarship within the mission of higher education. The target audience is partners (Community, Government, and Business leaders interested in partnering with institutiont of higher education), faculty, administrators, and students.

Thursday, December 3, 2009: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM | USGBC-FCRC GENERAL MEETING: RECLAIMED WATER SYSTEMS
Location: Leon County Community Room at the Amtrak Center, 918 Railroad Avenue, Tallahassee
Join us for lunch and a meeting of the USGBC Florida Capital Region Chapter. Dean Taylor, of Water Control Corporation, will present on recycling gray water and rain water in a LEED Environment. One hour of CEU for architects and one hour of PDH for engineers will be available. Charges to be announced.
