Beginning Feb. 11, USGBC will offer a brand-new, five-part webinar series covering LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance Rating System. USGBC's LEED Faculty will review the rating system credit-by-credit, covering the technical requirements and sharing real-life case examples. Live sessions will be presented bi-weekly from Feb. 11-April 8, and archives will also be available. For more information, click here.

Do you ever wonder about the state of green building legislation in Florida? Or how members of the Florida Capital Region Chapter of the US Green Building Council plays a role? These questions and more will be answered in the March general membership meeting. At this meeting, the legislative requirements for green building in Florida per statute 255 will be summarized. The status of related rule 60D-4 and the State Energy Management Plan will also be addressed. And, you will learn how you can help. One hour of continuing education for architects will be offered at a charge of $10 for chapter members and $20 for non-members. This meeting is a preview of the USGBC Florida Legislative Day. Ready for your voice to be heard in Tallahassee? Participate in the Legislative Day presented by the U.S. Green Building Council Florida-Caribbean Region. The USGBC Florida Legislative Day is the only legislative conference in Florida which focuses exclusively on green building. It offers USGBC Florida and Caribbean chapter members the opportunity to promote and defend key issues at the Capitol. During this forum, you will have a chance to visit the Capitol and meet with your Florida Representatives and Senators. You will gain political allies who will produce legislative results for green building advocates statewide.

All USGBC Florida and Caribbean chapter members are encouraged to attend. This event is free for members in good standing and a fee of $50 is charged to non-members.

This workshop is intended for anyone who wants more than a basic understanding of LEED - including those with a stake in their company's or community's building practices, those directly involved in green building projects, and those pursuing GBCI's LEED Green Associate credential.

The workshop provides essential knowledge of sustainable building concepts that are fundamental to all LEED Rating Systems. It begins with an introduction to the benefits and integrative approach to green building, and a brief background on the U.S. Green Building Council and LEED, including basics of the building certification process. The core of the workshop presents LEED intents and concepts at the credit category level - across building types and rating systems - touching on strategies, synergies, and specific examples that are reinforced by real project cases. Key LEED metrics and LEED referenced standards are addressed throughout the workshop. Interactive activities within the course keep you engaged and reinforce what you've learned.
