The LEED® for New Construction Rating System is designed to guide and distinguish high-performance commercial and institutional projects, including office buildings, high-rise residential buildings, government buildings, recreational facilities, manufacturing plants and laboratories. This workshop goes beyond the basics of the LEED® for New Construction v2.2 Rating System, using case studies and exercises to provide an overview of the building certification process, as well as a brief exam review.

We meet at Mars Cafe, 2318 University Ave, Des Moines, IA on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Each month a business and non-profit give a brief overview of how they are supporting sustainability in business, leaving plenty of time for questions and networking. Greening the Heartland Call for Presentations
One of the largest and most successful conferences on green building practices and initiatives in the US Green Building Council Heartland Region will be held in Detroit. The USGBC Detroit Regional Chapter and The Engineering Society of Detroit will present the sixth annual Greening the Heartland Conference May 31 through June 2, 2009 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Partnership with COBO Center.
You are invited to take an active role in this event by submitting a presentation proposal.

4th Bi-Annual BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE IOWA
Green Building Workshop
Nov. 10th - 15th
Cedar Falls, Ankeny, & Fairfield
COSC's 4th Bi-Annual Building a Sustainable Iowa Professional Training workshop will be held the week of November 10th through 15th in Cedar Falls, Ankeny and Fairfield. Each location will host the two day course with Marc Richmond, a nationally recognized green building consultant and educator, as the main presenter. We also bring in local experts as guest speakers. A two-hour homeowner class followed by an exhibit and networking social will be held at each site as well.
This course is recognized by the building community as the most comprehensive residential green building training course offered in the state so plan to attend!
