The LEED for Schools committee aims to change the way that we conceptualize
the role and design of schools. They are not only places for
intellectual and social growth, but truly exist as second homes for the 60
million young students, faculty, and staff that occupy them every day.
Our challenge is to work with school leaders and communities, to spread
awareness and knowledge of the benefits of going green - whether it is for
new buildings, renovations, upgrades, operations or maintenance.
Through the implementation of green building practices and principles, we
have the opportunity to create healthier, more energy efficient environments
with demonstrated cost benefit savings.
