On Friday, June 12th, registrants will be able to sit for the LEED AP Homes exam.  For more information,

Independent Bank LEED Silver!

The Germantown branch of Independent Bank has attained LEED Silver Certification, becoming the
first new construction project in Shelby County to receive LEED Certification.  The 2500 SF bank was
built on a .47 acre lot at the corner of Poplar Ave. and South Germantown Road.  Congratulations to

Registration Open for LEED Workshops

Registration is now open for several LEED educational sessions coming to Memphis.  There will be two
half-day workshops on July 31st - one for general contractors and construction managers, and one
focuses on LEED project costs and returns.  There will also be a full-day workshop on October 23rd for
green building operation and maintenance.  See below for dates and program descriptions:

LEED for General Contractors/Construction Managers
Friday, July 31st - 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

This course is designed to help general contractors and construction managers understand LEED as it relates to
their project role, with a focus on technical requirements (particularly materials, resources, and indoor
environmental quality credits). The course includes strategies for general contractor and subcontractor
documentation and costs tracking.

Understanding LEED Project Costs & Returns

This course is designed to help those working on a LEED project team learn how to handle cost issues to
build more environmentally and economically sound projects. Information on construction and life-cycle
costs are introduced using LEED certified project case studies and current research data. The course also
provides tools to calculate and evaluate the costs and benefits of LEED certification and strategies to maximize
resource selections.

Green Building Operations & Maintenance: The LEED Implementation Process

This workshop is intended for building owners, operators and maintenance professionals involved in
implementing LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance. It walks through the phases of a

encourage students to apply knowledge to real-life situations.

Doug Thorton Office Tour

The USGBC Memphis Regional Chapter invites you to take a tour of architect Doug Thorton's office.
This project was a 3000 sf house that was converted into office space and is the region's first
LEED-Certified project, earning a Gold rating.
