Our Mission
We are the Mississippi chapter of the nation's foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.Our Committees
We are always looking for people to get involved with our chapter and serve on one of our committees. Please contact us if you are a current member of our chapter and would like to help out by serving on a committee.
Government Committee
Goals:
- Identify and reach out to local elected officials and relevant government agencies/departments.
- Identify potential barriers and develop strategies to address.
- Support and aid in the publicity of any positive developments.
Membership Committee
Summary:
Dues from local and national memberships play a critical role in supporting our outreach efforts (events/programs) which ultimately educate the public on the mission of USGBC and our local chapter.
Goals:
- Identify our market for potential members (companies and individuals)
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to expand membership.
- Develop a database of members.
- Develop an annual membership survey to provide dynamic feedback for potential improvements.

Programs / Events Committee
Goals:
- Develop an on-going schedule for programs and events.
- Oversee execution of programs and events.
- Seek alliances with other organizations for joint programs focusing on common topics or interests.

Communications Committee
Summary:
Uphold USGBC standards and support the overall mission of USGBC and our local chapter through a "common voice" and "look."
Goals:
- Send local committee member to national USGBC media training.
- Develop internal templates (letterhead, minutes, agenda, etc...)
- Develop & maintain a periodic newsletter
- Maintain website
- Maintain an events calendar (via website)
- Develop press releases & other announcements (i.e. program reminders)

Finance Committee
Summary:
Provide sound fiscal management adhering to the guidelines established for non-profit organizations, ensuring that membership dues and other funds are used responsibly and efficiently.
Goals:
- Create a business and budget plan.
- Create a dues structure for members utilizing the parameters established by the USGBC.
- Work with the Membership Committee to implement a membership drive, insuring that the chapter takes full advantage of the new member rebate program.
- Work with the Programs Committee to develop programs or events that will generate revenue.

- Contacting USGBC National regarding developments and overall efforts
