Mission: To encourage green building principles in new and existing schools so that children and teachers can learn in a healthy environment that enhances performance while providing overall cost savings that will increase fiscal accountability to taxpayers.
Goals:
1) Encourage local and/or state adoption of requirement to use LEED for Schools on all new and renovated schools built within the state.
2) Facilitate evaluation of existing schools for operation and energy improvements.
3) Provide education for Teachers, Staff and Administration, and members of local Boards of Education of school districts to the benefits of sustainable building and operation strategies.
4) Collect and make tools available to teachers for incorporating green principles into teaching curriculum.
5) Develop the political will and practical tools to fund the goals of the green schools initiative.
How you can get involved :
1) Become a member of the USGBC MT Chapter & join the Green School Committee
2) Get your mayor to sign onto Mayor's Alliance for Green Schools
3) Start a green team at your local school
4) Contact your state legislators and tell them how important green schools are. |
