Operation Food Search: Office Furniture to Food
Divert waste from the landfill and feed the hungry at the same time? Is it really possible?!
Operation Food Search's Furniture to Food Program makes it easy for companies and organizations to help end hunger by donating furniture in good repair. Instead of sending unused furniture and cubicles to a landfill, you can donate it to Operation Food Search. They will then dismantle, move and sell your unwanted furniture. The profits from furniture sales fund Operation Food Search's Back Pack Program, which sends kids home with a backpack full of healthy, kid-friendly food over the weekend. Furniture to Food can help your organization avoid storage fees for unused furniture, eliminate time and labor associated with furniture disposal while diverting waste from landfills and feeding the hungry! Learn more about Furniture to Food, or Operation Food Search's other landfill diversion program, Metal to Food, by contacting Cindy Breth, Operation Food Search Director of Green Initiatives, at (314) 726-5355 or cbreth@ofsearch.org. Operation Food Search is a local, non-profit that distributes food free of charge to more than 250 community agencies. Learn more at www.ofsearch.org. |

USGBC-STL Sponsor Profile: Vertegy
In February of 2005, Alberici Corporation announced the formation of a branded, sustainable consulting service named Vertegy. Vertegy brings a different perspective to sustainable building - it is hands-on. Vertegy is a full service sustainability consultant; structured to work with building owners, designers, constructors and building occupants focusing solely on issues of sustainability. Vertegy evolved from the founder's 20-year career in the construction industry, energized by the success of achieving LEEDŽ Platinum certification on Alberici's Corporate Headquarters building, considered by many experts as one of the greenest buildings in the world. Vertegy has discovered the ability to apply economical suggestions to heighten the level of sustainability in any type of project. Vertegy has become a leader in sustainable design and construction consulting and LEED process administration, with 17 LEED certified projects completed to date and more than fifty LEED registered projects in progress, totaling over 7 million square feet - nearly $1.5 billion worth - of sustainable buildings and spaces.
Vertegy is headquartered in the LEED Platinum Alberici building in St. Louis, Missouri.
