Conservation Lobby Day 2008 - Tuesday, February 26

Conservation Lobby Day brings together concerned citizens from across the state of Missouri to talk with state legislators about environmental issues facing this year's General Assembly. This annual event draws citizens who represent a diversity of conservation interests - from environmentalists, scientists, students and business owners to hunters, anglers and farmers. They meet with senators and representatives from their own districts, and with other lawmakers who hold key positions on various legislative committees that deal with conservation issues. You don’t have to know a lot about the legislative process or about upcoming bills in order to participate. You just have to care about a clean, healthy future for Missouri!

Two bills (and maybe more) have been filed related to green building:

Senate Bill 1100, Sponsored by Sen. Joan Bray:
Requires that after August 28, 2008, any state or local government building over 10,000 gross square feet that is constructed or substantially renovated shall obtain certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.

Senate Bill 1117, Sponsored by Sen. Jeff Smith
Creates requirements and provides incentives for environmentally sustainable buildings

WHEN: Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: House Hearing Room 2, State Capitol Building, Jefferson City
COST: Free
Find out more register at: http://www.moenviron.org/Lobbyday.asp
