LEED EB Technical Review - August 8

WHAT:  LEED for Existing Buildings Technical Review
This full day workshop will help you gain knowledge on greening the operations and maintenance of your existing building and achieving LEED EB certification. It will also help you begin to prepare for taking the LEED AP Exam in the Existing Building track.

USGBC CAPITOL HILL DAY
USGBC is holding an inaugural Congressional Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, on September 9-10 in order to enhance congressional understanding of green building practices, USGBC, and its chapters.

USGBC is seeking input and participation from the broader Chapter community. Chapter members interested in attending Congressional Advocacy Day or simply in providing feedback are invited to fill out a questionnaire by close of business Monday, August 4.

Space in the Congressional Advocacy Day is limited. USGBC staff in Washington DC will review the information submitted and notify individuals who have been selected to participate. USGBC will cover the cost of accommodations, travel and meals for all participants.
GREEN COMMUNITIES FUNDING
Enterprise Communities Green Communities Program has recently announced that grant funds up to $50,000 will be available beginning August 5 for developers committed to providing green, affordable housing.

Grant applications must be received by September 18. Awards are expected to be made by the first week of November. Enterprise is holding an online meeting on Tuesday, August 5 at 1 PM Central to review the application process.

Information on joining the August 5 meeting, grant guidelines and information on the application process can be found on the Green Communities webiste.

Please note that Enterprise and its Partners have recently updated the Green Communities Criteria.

St. Louis is growing greener all the time with 21 LEED Certified commercial projects and 2 LEED Certified homes.  Congratulations to the following projects on their recent LEED Certification!

BEYOND GREEN HIGH-PERFORMANCE BUILDING AWARDS
Application Deadline - October 15, 2008
The Sustainable Building Industry Council invites applications for its 2008 Beyond Green High-Performance Building Awards. Applications are due by October 15, 2008. Awards will be presented January 2009.

The Sustainability Building Industry Council's whole building approach to design includes 8 design objectives: sustainable, accessible, aesthetic, cost-effective, functional, productive/healthy, historic, and safe & secure. Applications can be made in two categories: high-performance buildings and high-performance initiatives.
