USGBC 2009-2013 Strategic Plan
The national USGBC has recently released its 2009-2013 Strategic Plan. The plan sets forth a very exciting vision for the next five years. Chapters are encouraged to adapt and adopt the plan and the St. Louis Regional Chapter leadership is in the process of doing just that!

There's a lot of work to do locally, around the country and around the world in order to achieve the goals and objectives in the Strategic Plan. USGBC-STL hopes you'll help us transform the built environment here in St. Louis by becoming a member of the Chapter, renewing your Chapter membership or getting involved in USGBC-STL committee!

USGBC-STL Chapter Speakers Bureau Launches!
USGBC-STL has officially launched a Speakers Bureau. After struggling with many requests coming in for speakers and presentations, the Advocacy Committee stepped up to the task to create a Speakers Bureau. See the Speakers Bureau list on the Chapter website (PDF).

Presentation requests should be e-mailed to usgbc-stl@mobot.org.

Interested in joining the USGBC-STL Speakers Bureau? You must be a USGBC-STL Member in good standing, review the Chapter Conflict of Interest Policy and sign a Conflict of Interest Acknowledgement form. We are looking for folks that are comfortable with public speaking and have knowledge of green building, USGBC and LEED. Contact Emily at (314) 577-0854 or usgbc-stl@mobot.org for more information!
Missouri Clean Energy Initiative - On the Ballot Nov 4
This fall, Missourians will have the opportunity to vote on Proposition C - Missouri Clean Energy Initiative. If passed the MO Clean Energy Initiative will require investor-owned utilities AmerenUE, Kansas City Power & Light, Aquila and Empire District Electric, to get 15% of their electricity from clean sources by 2021.

This sort of initiative is often called a Renewable Energy Standard (RES) and has already been implemented in 26 other states.

Learn more about the Missouri Clean Energy Initiative before the November 4 Election, including information on the Consumer Cost Savings Analysis (PDF).

The USGBC-STL endorses the Clean Energy Initiative because it will take a step towards reducing global warming; heighten public awareness of the issues; encourage the  development of clean power generation in  Missouri; and will allow energy consumers to demonstrate their desire for sustainable energy practices.
