This conference offers a jam-packed schedule of great speakers, workshops and tours in addition to execellent networking opportunities with others working on green building in the midwest. LEED For Schools Technical Review - September 7 in Osage BeachWHAT: LEED for Schools Technical Review - be among the first to attend this brand new workshop to learn about the new LEED for Schools rating system! WHEN: Friday, September 7, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm WHERE: Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO (Lake of the Ozarks) Register before Friday, August 31 for the early registration fee. The sixth annual EarthWays Center Festival has a new face and a new focus - Green Homes! The Festival & House Tour will be from 10 am - 4 pm on Saturday & Sunday, September 29 & 30. At the EarthWays Center, exhibitors, expert talks and demos will focus on renewable energy, green building, waste reduction & much more! The house tour - a brand new feature of the Festival - will feature 5 certified green homes. The Festival and parking at EarthWays are FREE. The house tour is $10 per person and tickets are available in advance at the Garden Gate Shop of the Missouri Botanical Garden and the each day of the tour at the EarthWays Festival. Our board of directors, committee members and outreach event volunteers all serve the Chapter as volunteers - and YOU CAN TOO! Check out the opportunities below. Interested? Have questions? EarthWays Center Green Homes Festival & House Tour Volunteer Opportunities: This year's USGBC-STL September program is the EarthWays Green Homes Festival and House Tour. Not only is the Chapter a Platium Sponsor of the event, we've also been helping to coordinate the House Tour. We need help staffing the USGBC-STL Booth at the Festival and staffing the house tour. USGBC-STL Informational Booth Shifts - Saturday & Sunday, September 29 & 30 - Staff booth at EarthWays Center, answering questions, etc. 9:30 am - noon House Tour Docents - Saturday & Sunday, September 29 & 30 - Work at one of homes on tour, interpreting green features, answering questions, etc. 9:30 am - 1:30 pm USGBC-STL 2008 Board Openings There are several seats open on the 2008 Chapter Board:Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Outreach Chair, and Finance Chair. Nominations for these positions are due Thursday, October 18, so you have plenty of time to think about it (and we'll be reminding you of the deadline, don't worry)! Congrats to the Chapter's new Green Schools AdvocateThe Chapter has selected Julia Feder, Supervisor of Education Programs at the Missouri Botanical Garden's EarthWays Center, as our LEED for Green Schools Advocate, Julia will represent the Chapter at a training in Washtington DC in September sponsored by the national USGBC. When returning from the training, Julia will share what she's learned with other Chapter members. She'll also work with the Chapter to promote LEED for Schools by reaching out to K-12 Stakeholders and cultivating other Green Schools Advocates.
