• Sustainability Series: IEQ, Purchasing and Waste
The final session in our series on sustainability will focus on two different areas of sustainable commercial building practices: Indoor air quality and waste management. Americans spend more than 90% of our lives indoors. Implementing a proactive indoor air quality program can mitigate risk, increase productivity and improve the working environment for your facility. Kevin Cairns, an industrial hygienist with Applied Environmental Sciences with twenty years experience in the twin cities market, will speak on the economics of IAQ. Adam Fransen, Project Manager with CB Richard Ellis, will speak on managing the waste stream through recycling programs, best practice tracking, and environmentally preferred purchasing. Mr. Fransen will provide simple steps you can apply to your operations immediately. Please join us to learn how each of these areas can improve the sustainability of your building.

Dan Pingel, of RESI (Rehbein Environmental Solutions, Inc.) will discuss sustainable stormwater management solutions that minimize or eliminate traditional stormwater infrastructure costs. When designed and installed with the EPIC System™, landscape beds, turf areas, parking lots and rooftops can serve as usable spaces that also provide water storage capacity and improved water quality. The EPIC System™ is a living system that provides drainage, storage capacity and pollutant removal. The system also has the capability to reuse water by serving as a subsurface irrigation system. Providing multifunctional spaces for stormwater management can benefit property owners and communities by increasing property value, providing cost effective LEED credits and reducing environmental impacts.
