    • The Mississippi Headwaters Chapter Advocacy Committee is tracking and supporting legislation related to sustainability in the built environment.  Each month we will highlight key bills.  Please contact your local state representatives and senators via email and phone and urge them to support these important bills.

      HF 680 –Federal Stimulus Funding.   Provides direction for the use of Federal stimulus funding for energy programs

      SF 549 – Sensible Communities.  Provides Greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals for state programs – per capita reduction in vehicle miles traveled to reduce greenhouse gases.

      HF 164  - State plan for green infrastructure, energy efficiency funding, renewable for schools, green industrial parks, solar certification lab

      HF 529 – Appropriating money through sale of bonds for grants to design of renewable energy products

      HF 569/SF 477 – Recycling paint products to reduce solid waste -  

      HF 214/SF 249 – Allow school boards to form entity for wind energy project – exempt form production tax

      HF 5/SF 5 – Funding for energy efficient residences, public cbuildings, renewable energy for public schools, green industrial parks

      HF 451/SF 316  - tax credit for small scale wind power installations

  • A house in Minneapolis is the first newly constructed home in Minnesota to get the highest possible rating for sustainability. The certification program rates projects based on criteria like energy efficiency and reduction of waste. MPR's Cathy Wurzer got a tour of the house from architect John Dwyer and owner Salena Gallo.
