Local Resources

  • Greenplaybook.org is designed for local government leaders and staff who are new to green development as well as early movers seeking to strengthen their programs. Each section contains “talking points” and background materials to prime elected officials and staff on key issues. Detailed how-to resources gleaned from local governments across the country offer practical program guidance. The strategic overview component of the Playbook provides the overarching rationale for action, and offers a strategic approach for establishing new programs and building momentum in green development.

  • Build Green Schools www.buildgreenschools.org
Build Green Schools is an action oriented Web site where parents, teachers, PTA members, local legislators and others can access resources and information for educating and advocating for green schools in their communities.  The site includes case studies; information on the benefits of green building; a networking tool for people to share best practices and success stories; and connections to their local chapters that have been trained as “green schools advocates.”

  • Green Home Guide www.greenhomeguide.org
The Green Home Guide is an educational Web site for the home owner, builder, buyer and consumer.  Made possible with generous support from Newland Communities, this site will serve the consumer audience and help to educate them on the benefits of green home building.  More importantly, this site will grow to be a local resource for consumers to search builders, LEED for homes providers, tax benefits, green retailers and product suppliers.
